I didn’t wake up for sahur this morning, was too tired after two days of brain squeezing (had to write 11 articles!!). So right now, my brain is on snail-mode.
Anyway, while staring at my screen trying to think of survey questions to write, I suddenly remembered a collection of books I used to have when I was a kid (God knows where those books are now). It’s what you might call a game book.
It’s called Where’s Wally (or some people know it as Where’s Waldo). Have any of you heard of it? It’s a series of illustration books by Martin Handford.
How it works is that your goal is to find Wally, in an illustrated picture full of tiny people doing various things! Wally dresses in a red and white hooped shirt and shellfish hat, carries a wooden walking stick, and wears glasses.
Now apart from having to find Wally, this little character is also always losing things, including books, camping equipment and even his shoes, and readers are invited to spot these items in the illustrations as well.

Sounds quite easy right? Find Wally and his stuff and you’re done! Think again. What makes it so challenging and fun is that Wally is ALWAYS hiding behind people or objects so it makes it even tougher to locate him.
If you happen to have eagle eyes and have easily spotted Wally and his missing stuff, the book will list down several quirky stuff for you to find like a man with two left shoes, a donkey who loves ice-cream, a human pyramid and things like that.
I honestly found it to be a whole lot of fun, especially if you’ve got a bunch of friends with you and you’re hovered over the book looking for that silly little geek in stripes.
Wally’s gone online now 🙂 So if you feel like giving it a try, check out Wally’s website and see if you can find Wally!! (sometimes it’s a bit slow to load so do be patient :D)
On my sidebar, I’ve put up a little game in case some of you are bored. It’s a little similar to Where’s Wally except the tiny illustrations are on the move. It’s called Where’s Wilma and you have to spot the girl in an animated illustration full of boys! Good luck! Let me know what’s the highest level you achieve k?? I’m pretty hopeless, I can’t get past level 2!!
hi.>i’ve wasted my 20minutes looking for waldo in the three drawings..>thanx for sharing.>it reminds me of my childhood days.. looking for hidden guy.>>btw munira, i’ve watched apocalypto few months ago. but never seen that split second frame..
Did you know that Wally had a blink-and-you’ll-miss cameo in <>Apocalypto<>? He was in a gruesome scene where there was a field of corpses, and he was there among the bodies. Gross and creepy. Don’t even ask me why they put him there in the first place. But you can only catch him in the cinema copy. They removed the frame for the DVDs. You can see < HREF="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jT3woa2INr8" REL="nofollow">the vid of the cameo frame on YouTube<>. Someone had kindly uploaded the freeze-frame.
