SO the wifey

After almost 6 months of being married, I finally feel that I’m fulfilling the role of a being a wife. Staying at my in-laws’ and even at my mum’s, I usually am a bit reserved in doing much because I don’t really know what ‘the rules’ are (you know how some people have their own ‘house rules’), or am afraid that I might get in the way.

These past few days, with my parents being away, the both of us have the whole house to ourselves. Which triggered my sudden interest to bake my first ever cake (yes a post on that will be up soon), as I felt that there’s no one to criticize on the way I dump the flour or the way I prepare the ingredients. I made it all by myself in peace.

This morning, I woke up and prepared food for sahur. Got everything ready, and sat and ate sahur and chit chatted with my darling husband. Just the two of us. It felt wonderful. Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally okay with the whole extended family living together thingy but for once, it felt really nice to be husband and wife. Just us. They’re little insignificant things really, but it sure means a whole lot to me.

Tomorrow, I plan to clean house a little, and the husband’s going to help out. I’m so excited! At least I get to pretend that I have my own place 😀 Some close friends are coming over on third day of raya so I want to spruce up the place a bit, just to have that raya feel. Usually, every raya, I’d do this with my mom and sister, but since they’re not around, I’m going to go ahead and do it with my other half. A whole new experience ey? Definitely one I’m looking forward to.

It will be my first raya with my husband… and I finally feel that I’m really truly… his wife.
