How to Increase Milk Production

November 29, 2010 by TwiggyLiyana 7 Comments

I promised a few ladies that I’d post this today!! 😀 Here it goes!

Earlier this year, I wrote on several tips on how to get your milk flow going. As the months pass by, Alisha’s demands fluctuates which means, so does my milk supply. Sometimes I have an abundance, and sometimes I have to wake up in the middle of the night to pump just to meet the next day’s demands.

So, in my search to find ways on how to increase my milk supply, I found two yummy remedies which really helped!!

The first would be the oh-so-sedap TAU  FU FAH!! Yes, ladies, believe it or not this actually helps! I’d be eating a bowl of tau fu fah every other day! Not only did it help with my supply but it also tastes so good 😀 My favourite would be the tau fu fah from The Soya Shop. Absolutely yummeh!

MMmMmmm… tau fu fah…

The next remedy is a homemade herbal drink introduced to me by my sister-in-law (thanks for the tip kakak!). You can get the ingredients from you local sensei shop, I’m not exactly sure of the names of the ingredients, so you can probably print out the picture below and show it to your sensei.

Here’s what you need for your herbal drink.

Ingredients :
3 large sugar covered dates
1/2 a handful of dried longan
1 handful of small dates
8-10 red dates
8-10 slices of stick thingies (i have no idea what they’re called)

The ingredients
Here’s what you do :
1. Rinse all ingredients except for the 3 large dates.
2. Place all ingredients in a pot and cover with water (about half the pot)
All the yummy goodness 🙂

3. Bring water to a boil and then slow it down to a simmer.
4. Cover pot but leave the cover slightly ajar.
Bring to a simmer and cover half the pot
5. Leave it on the fire for an hour, adding water occasionally if it becomes too dried up.
6. After an hour, it’s ready to be served! 😀
Your herbal drink 😀 complete with yummy dates!

You can them up like you would Len Chee Kang, or you can get rid of all the dates and just drink the boiled water.
It’s very important to note that you have to consume this drink while it’s WARM. Drinking it cold will cause uncomfortable gassiness and wind.
So what you can do is, keep it in a flask and drink bits of it occasionally. If it becomes cold, just heat it up in your microwave or over the stove.
Give it a try, and I hope it helps!!

Hi, accidentally found ur blog today. Very interesting topic, I used those herbs while I was BF. The herbs is good for woman even though not BF.

Just to share, it is better to cut the red dates and take out the seed; so that all the nutrient will go to the water and taste more yummy! 🙂

    Cheers and good luck

hi, i've tried the dried longan. yummy. what i did is only boil water, red dates, dried longan adn rock sugar. i made a lot, and let it cold in the fridge. but i didn't experience any gassiness and all, i prefer to have it cold 🙂
