Condom scoop

May 18, 2007 by liyanaaznil 13 Comments

Ok here’s the story.

A couple of day’s ago a media owner. represented by three young chaps came to tell us about their stuff. Rather interesting I must say. What they do is they give out packs of goodies at events and selected outlets, and clients can put their stuff into the packs (at a fee, of course). These packs then go straight into the hands of consumers. Kind of like a fancy party pack. I was very interested, but don’t think it’s right for my brands.

Anyway, we were each given a pack as a sample. So we opened it up and there were lots of goodies inside, from postcards to posters, candy to chewing gum, and even a condom. So here’s my thought, give out condoms at events and what are you suggesting? Dance dance and let’s boogie under the sheets after this? Perhaps. But it could also be to suggest people to be more responsible for their actions and practise safe sex. Actually I think it’s Durex trying to make more money, LOL. I’m sure they go by the thinking people try, people like, people buy.

Speaking of condoms, have you people ever wondered what goes on inside a condom factory? Hahahahhahah…ok no no…I never gave it a thought either, but I received an email from a friend that gave us a behind-the-scenes look inside a factory that produces condoms.

The delicate fingers carefully stretch the rubber over a huge metal rod thingy

They are careful to keep clean, wearing masks, gloves and Hello Kitty hair-clips

There they go, all in a row

Looks like the rigourous straining to check for tears are starting to take it’s toll on her…

This looks…wrong…

All set, ready to be packed

Funny how everyone working in that factory are women, At least those in the pictures are women). Wait, I think they’re women.

Ok, there is no point to be made here. LOL.

It’s either a great coincidence or a great pity that you two started this (purportedly) misunderstanding about condoms on International Aids Memorial Day (IAMD) sponsored by the Malaysian AIDS Council. Handing out condoms is NOT a message that having sex outside marriage is ok, and in my opinion, if that’s the first thing that pops into your head when someone hands you a condom, then there’s something wrong with you and not the condom provider. Either you have sex on your mind all the time or you’re copping out and blaming everybody else for society’s ills. Giving out condoms is the pragmatist approach to reality. People are going to have sex (who they are is of secondary importance) and unprotected sex leads to STDs, unwanted pregnancies and worse, HIV/AIDS. Those are the facts. According to MarinaM on her blog found here:http://rantingsbymm.blogspot.com/2007/05/but-this-is-what-were-up-against.htmlIslam does not have problems with the use of contraceptions within marriage yet the spread of Aids is prevalent among MARRIED women who contracted it from their husbands. It becomes even sadder when there are innocent babies involved. I won’t be surprised if poor education and religious oppression are the main reasons for the escalating incidence of AIDS cases in Malaysia. Many Western countries (that are predominantly populated by non-Muslims) have been giving out condoms for years, provided education and faced the reality of HIV/AIDS, have successfully seen their numbers of infected fall. If there really are GENUINE religious concerns (as rightly there should be) about the prevalence of sex before marriage, then the best way to tackle this is to promote abstinence and educate the youngsters about the consequences of premarital sex (That’s what they’re doing with young Christian Catholics in America and it seems to be working). Religious oppression and blind bigotry will only make the situation worse. In the world we live today, I believe narrow-mindedness has no place, and besides, you attract more bees with honey anyway.

i think we’re not communicating all that well.i got the impression that you said i was crabby because i’ve never gone clubbing.who says i do not go out to the movies, bowling, etc.?and, excuse me, but La Queen is a real gay club, OK. i was not “dissing” gays.i’m against homosexuality but if my existing friend is gay then so be it. he’ll still be my friend.aiseh, obviously we’re on opposite ends when it comes to clubbing and gays, so let’s stop it here.next issue to talk about, please! :p

i said go out. didn’t mention anything else. you could go to the movies or have dinner at Italiannies and at the same time watch people have fun at Laundry bar, for all it’s worth. don’t diss gay people. that’s not nice.

ahhh…no wonder la you’re so crabby…you should go out a bit more and see what’s out there. and there would be no worries about you being influenced right? since you’re very strong in holding your principles 🙂oh, and what’s this crap about modernising Islam pulak nih. Can you not inject sentiments of religion when i’m talking about condoms. sheesh. since you’re on that matter, no need lah to modernise Islam, isn’t it a religion for all time? Include Islam in your modern life. Better right? dah dah. go become crabby on your own blog. LOL.

now now shah…you’re sounding like a crabby old fart.i wouldn’t say close down those places, coz the more illegal you make it, the worse it will become. so, if you don’t want to be tempted by all those things, then don’t go. simple as that.

giving out free condoms to people is a way of saying that it’s OK to have sex out of marriage, which is wrong.if you can’t control your urges, then by all means do have safe sex. but use your own money to buy the condoms.we should also close down most, if not all, of the night clubs. we can start with zouk.it’s a well known fact that night clubs are full of alcohol and drugs, which always lead to sex.
