What lovely news!!
Every girl I know has mentioned Prince William when asked who they would want to marry, lol. To lose our handsome prince to a beautiful, intelligent and grounded young lady is something no one would complain about.
Congratulations Prince William and Kate Middleton!!

LONDON: Prince William, the second in line to the throne, will marry his long-term girlfriend Kate Middleton next year.
‘‘Prince William and Miss Middleton became engaged in October during a private holiday in Kenya,’’ Prince Charles said in a statement issued by his office in London yesterday.
‘‘Following the marriage, the couple will live in north Wales, where Prince William will continue to serve with the Royal Air Force.’’

Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said: ‘‘Both the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are absolutely delighted for them both.’’
The prince asked permission of Miss Middleton’s father, the royal press office stressed.
The British Prime Minister, David Cameron, was informed of the engagement during a cabinet meeting and said the news was met with a ‘‘great cheer’’ and with ‘‘a great banging of tables’’.

Full details of the wedding plans have yet to be announced. The statement said only that the wedding would take place next spring or summer in London. Either St Paul’s Cathedral or Westminster Abbey would be possible venues, though both have painful resonances: St Paul’s was where Charles’s ill-fated wedding to Diana Spencer took place in 1981 and the abbey was where Diana’s funeral took place in 1997.
Prince William and Miss Middleton have known each other for eight years, since meeting as students at St Andrews University in Scotland. They later shared student accommodation for two years and, apart from a separation in 2007, have been together since.
Miss Middleton will be the first commoner to marry an heir-presumptive to the throne for 350 years, since Anne Hyde married the future King James II in 1660. She is the daughter of Carole and Michael Middleton, the eldest of three children, whose family fortune is based on a mail-order children’s party accessories business.
‘‘Kate is a formidable character; she’s an intelligent, modern, middle-class girl who is not easily fazed,’’ Robert Jobson, author of the book William’s Princess, said. ‘‘She has captured the heart of a prince, which is a difficult thing to do, and in doing so has shown she is dignified. The royal family is a difficult thing to come into if you are middle class.’’
