Who is this Datin Puteri Shahanaz you might ask. Well, if you happen to remember, while the whole of Malaysia (and most likely Indonesia and Brunei too) went gaga over the lavish wedding of Siti Nurhaliza (a.k.a husband stealer) with Datuk Khalid, about a week later, we were all reading (or watching) the news with our jaws on the floor.
In 2006, young 24 years old Puteri Shahanaz Hazlin married super oldie 49 years old Datuk Roslan Hashim (a.k.a Datuk R). They spent a whopping RM3.5 million on their wedding!!!
Yes. You read it right. RM THREE POINT FIVE MILLION! 3.5 meeeleeeeeyooonnnn!!!
Crazy right?? Siti Nurhaliza’s wedding was outdone in just a *snap*
Datuk Roslan’s wedding gift to Puteri Shahanaz amounted to RM444,444.44 in cash and a further RM22,222.22 in dowry.
Other gifts include a BMW 320i worth RM250,000, a RM150,000 jewellery set, a diamond ring worth RM20,000, a RM25,000 Rolex watch and other designer items. In turn, Puteri Shahanaz presented Roslan with 20 trays of gifts which included a Rolex watch worth RM84,000, a wedding ring and other designer items.
When I first read the news (and saw the photos) I though, dear God, this girl has got to have married him for the money. First of all, he’s more than twice her age!!! Plus, he’s no Richard Gere!! She’s practically a model with her pretty looks and beautiful figure and he’s..well…WRINKLY!!! If her dad or someone forced her into this marriage, they’re really mean people.
Today, I opened up the papers to some surprising but kind-of expected news.
Check out the gab from The Star.
Model-princess files for divorce one year later
KUANTAN: A year after she made headlines for a lavish RM3.5mil wedding, Datin Puteri Shahanaz Hazlin Hamdan and her four-month-old son are now living with her parents.
Puteri Shahanaz, a part-time model and a grand-niece of Sultan Ahmad Shah of Pahang, has also started working.
Her lawyer, Dzulkarnain Mohamad, said yesterday she was doing fine and coping well after filing for divorce from her husband, businessman Datuk Roslan Hashim.
He, however, declined to disclose details about the reasons for the divorce, saying , these would be revealed during the hearing on the matter.
Puteri Shahanaz filed for divorce from Roslan on Thursday.
The couple’s wedding on Sept 9 last year became the talk of the whole country when it was reported that the wedding gifts amounted to RM444,444.44 in cash and a further RM22,222.22 in dowry.
On Wednesday, the court will hear Puteri Shahanaz’s application for leave to enable a summons of the divorce to be served on Roslan, who is believed to be in Pendang, Kedah.
According to Dzulkarnain, neither Roslan nor his lawyer were present in court on Thursday as they had not been officially informed about the proceedings.
“The summons could not be served as the husband was not available at the last known address in Shah Alam.
“And since syariah courts in each state have their own jurisdiction, we need to apply for leave from the court so that the document can be served on him because he is living outside of Pahang. This is necessary before we can proceed to the next step,” he said.

Very smart girl. Have one of his kids first. Then make a run for it. Obviously she’ll continue to get money for the kid’s well-being etc. So she will live happily ever after, without having to wake up every day next to Datuk Rinkles, lol.
