Nori and Khairy have baby boy on first day of Ramadan
KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin and Nori Abdullah became proud parents of a baby boy on the first day of Ramadan.
Nori, only daughter of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, gave birth to the 3.3kg baby at the Pantai Medical Centre at 1.25pm.
“Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah) for blessing us with a healthy baby in this holy month of Ramadan. Both mother and child are healthy and doing well,” Khairy said.
On the name of the baby, Khairy said: “We have a shortlist. It will be decided very soon.”
Commenting on who the baby looked like, Khairy quipped, “Thank God, my son looks like his mama and not like me.”
Abdullah, meanwhile, took time off from his busy schedule to visit his new grandson at 5pm.
He looked cheerful when arriving at the hospital.
The prime minister was seen shaking hands with several patients at the hospital lobby before going up to the seventh floor to visit his fifth grandchild.
Abdullah’s son Datuk Kamaluddin and wife Datin Azrene Abdullah have four children.
The prime minister spent 40 minutes with Nori, Khairy and their baby.
Abdullah’s wife Datin Seri Jeanne Abdullah was among the first to visit Nori and her baby and spent over two hours there.
Other dignitaries who visited Nori were Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Shamsuddin and International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz.
